What is it about brass bands E-mail

What is it about brass bands that you either love or hate, A brass band is without a doubt the highlight of any musical parade or carnival, When those symbols start to clash so does the heartbeat of all the spectators who is their to enjoy a day out at the local fete to watch the brass band play

A brass band is a type of musical group consisting mostly of all brass instruments, often with a percussion section. Some traditions have other types of music instruments play in the band like the clarinet or saxophone, however then we have other traditions that do not permit woodwinds as part of a brass band. No pleasing them all.

If those instruments were acceptable then the band would be termed a wind band. The other name for this can be titled a brass and reed band.

While brass instruments in the past and to date have been used together in a variety of contexts, it was the first more updated bands that was developed in the early days of the 1900s in Prussia where all military band connections and government bands were given the new technology in the form of the rotary valve instruments with instructions to be followed that standard tuning be used.

It was this command that allowed musicians to implement flexibility where they could play with other bands

Another separate tradition rose in the UK because of the simplicity of importing new Belgian musical instruments. The saxhorn which was invented by Adolphe Sax was brought into British bands and it was the sounds of this amazing saxhorn that went on to be very successful in competitions.

Brass bands are here to stay because of the quality sound which is distributed to all those who appreciate what the world of musical instrument inventors and composers had in mind for them at the time of creation, and that was to give pleasure to the player or the listener.
